Description
In December 2023, Bourne High School football quarterback Ty Kelley who was awarded the Otto Graham Award. What JGPR learned was that Ty was born with a rare disease called symbrachydactyly where he only has seven fingers - only a thumb and index finger on his right hand. JGPR then coordinated with the Bourne superintendent, high school principal and athletic director to connect with Ty and his mom. JGPR then directly pitched the story to Boston TV media. JGPR was successful in pitching to WCVB and NBC10. Both stations traveled to Bourne to interview Ty and his mom. JGPR prepared Ty and his mom for the interview and also inquired about additional visual elements, such as videos and photos of Ty during BHS football season. This story highlights Ty Kelley as a student-athlete and the Bourne Public Schools, in a positive light.
